We are now accepting applications for our Summer Junior Volunteer Program; the application deadline is May 29. We are looking for energetic and dedicated students to serve our patients from mid-June to early August. Our junior volunteers assist at our information desks, outpatient clinics, and in our Volunteer Services Department in the following ways:

  • greeting and escorting patients, families, and visitors
  • offering comforts such as snacks and drinks to patients and their families during their medical appointments
  • assembling patient care packages for our inpatients
  • working on various projects through Volunteer Services to benefit patients and their families

The program offers students the opportunity to interact with patients and staff in a hospital setting and is a great way to for them gain skills for future careers. The applicants selected must complete the following:

  • meet requirements for hospital volunteers, including proof of immunizations and two tuberculosis skin tests
  • take an online hospital orientation tutorial
  • volunteer at least four hours per week and no more than 16 hours per week. Volunteer shifts are scheduled Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. There are no evening or weekend shifts.

To be considered for the program, please submit a Junior Volunteer Application and References before May 29.  If you have additional questions, feel free to email us at VolunteerServices@hci.utah.edu or call us at 801-587-4060.
