Once scientists have determined that a chemical has potential as a cancer treatment, it may be developed into a new therapy for use in patients. Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) doctors work closely with the Center for Investigational Therapeutics (CIT) in developing clinical trials to test these new therapies. Nearly all medications used today are the result of clinical trials.

Features of the clinical program include the following:

  • Phase I clinical trialists
  • Nurse practitioner
  • Research nurses
  • Data managers

  • Investigational pharmacist
  • Dedicated/designated space
  • Pharmacokinetic capability
  • Molecular imaging
