Infectious Diseases - Clinic 1A

Infectious Diseases - About Your Visit

At the Infectious Disease Clinic you will experience a patient-centered team approach to your care. After arriving at the clinic, you will interact with a variety of staff and providers who will guide you through your visit. Following is a brief summary of the staff that will help coordinate your care.

Front Desk Personnel:  There are the first people you first meet in our clinic. They answer phones, make appointments and document any changes needed to your personal information.

Nursing Staff:  Our nursing staff will escort you to an exam room, take your vital signs and weight, administer injections and various treatments, and make sure that your medical provider’s orders are carried out.

Pharmacist (HIV/AIDS Patients only):  Our pharmacist will educate you about the benefits, side effects, dosing, and importance of taking your medications correctly.  If needed, your education can include various techniques to help you remember to take your medications on time or help you to stop smoking. Note: Our pharmacist does not write or refill medications; only your medical provider can prescribe medications and authorize prescription refills.

Case Managers (HIV/AIDS Patients only): Our Case Managers are available for all patients; regardless of level of need.  Their purpose is to assess your medical, psychosocial and service needs, provide you with referrals to resources, attend social service agency appointments to provide advocacy, assist you with any billing or scheduling concerns and monitor your ongoing needs with your medical provider.  Your case management services are provided on-site at Clinic 1A or through outreach services in your home and community.  Please note:  Outreach services will be based on your degree of need, ability and illness.
