Anne G. Osborn, MD Recognized with "Pioneers of Progress" Award
University of Utah Physician's Work Helped to Establish Field of Neuroradiology
As part of Utah's annual Days of'47 Celebration, Neuroradiologist Anne G. Osborn of the University of Utah was one of seven recipients of the "Pioneers of Progress" award at an event on July 10 in Salt Lake City.
The award, presented annually since 1995, goes to Utahns who have demonstrated "the pioneer legacy of industry and integrity and whose work benefits present and future generations."
Dr. Osborn, who is being recognized with the Science and Technology Award, is a Distinguished Professor of Radiology in the Department of Radiology at the University of Utah. She has written several medical books and countless academic journal articles, and her textbook on Neuroradiology is the definitive work on the subject. In awarding her the prize, the committee cited Dr. Osborn's pathfinding work in developing the subspecialty of neuroradiology. Dr Osborn also co-founded Amirsys, Inc., a publisher of medical reference tools and helped develop STATdx, a diagnostic online tool that gives radiologists quick access to updated reference material, including images.
Dr. Osborn's co-recipients at the event were: Harris Simmons - Business and Enterprise, Larry Gelwix - Sportsmanship and Athletics, Anrold Friberg - Historic and Creative Arts, Susan Carter Robinson - Education, Health, and Humanitarian Assistance.
