Qualifications:
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah or current licensure as a Registered Nurse which is active and in good standing in a Nurse Licensure Compact State. Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card or obtain one within one month of hire and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. Some positions may require additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or NRP within one year of hire.
 
Responsibilities:
The University of Utah Hospital and Clinics is a Level I Trauma Center located in the beautiful Wasatch mountains. We have openings in our NeuroCritical Care Unit (NCCU) since we are expanding to a brand new 23-bed Unit, with 5 Step-Down beds and 3 swing beds and 15 ICU beds. We pride ourselves on being a blend of high-tech and high-touch. NCCU works with neurosurgery ICU patients, neurology ICU patients, and stroke patients who have received TPA; a mix of Traumatic brain injury, aneurysms, hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke. We provide many and varied opportunites for teaching and learning. We strive for a climate that is positive, collegial, and team-oriented. Responsibilities: NCCU nurses receive advanced training in neuro specialty ICU care, and require nurses who are active learners, quick thinkers, and skilled in critical thinking skills. We provide a preceptor-based orientation program, specialized neuro classes, and an extensive ICU class. We are seeking nurses who appreciate a family-centered environment, caring for the family as well as the patient. Qualifications: 2 years of ICU and/or neuro experience within the past 5 years; current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Utah; current BLS and ACLS certifications. Shifts are 12-hour and vary between days, nights, and weekends.
