| Qualifications: |
| Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner as required under State Law. Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card or obtain one within one month of hire; and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required. Demonstrated clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area; and demonstrated leadership, teaching, research and communication skills are required. Utah State prescriptive privileges preferred. Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination. UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire. |

| Responsibilities: |
| The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology in the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner will provide treatment and evaluation to pediatric liver and gastroenterology patients in the inpatient and outpatient settings, working as a team member with nurse coordinators and pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology physicians. The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology is based at the Primary Children's Medical Center on the benches overlooking Salt Lake City. The Nurse Practitioner will:
Perform appropriate assessments, obtain histories and complete physical examinations to develop a working diagnosis for patients for the development and implementation of treatment plans.
Order, follows up and interpret patient care tests and exams.
Complete accurate documentation of all pertinent clinical findings in the patient medical record.
Provide management of patient/parent phone calls, handling prescription needs, providing advice regarding pediatric GI, pediatric liver and transplant, and general pediatric issues.
Provide patient/family education and coordination of care; and act as a resource and provides education on clinical, medication and health care issues for other team members.
Participate as a team member to provide on-call coverage to the liver transplant program.
Intercessor between transplant coordinators and attending physician
Daily rounds on inpatient service when pre and post-transplant patients are admitted. |
