Build-A-Bone

Are you at risk for bone density problems?
Do you have Osteoporosis or Osteopenia?

We’d like to help… The University Orthopaedic Center is pleased to offer the "Build-A-Bone" program. This unique, innovative program is a four-part series of 2-hour classes where you will learn how to care for and strengthen your bones. This program will help you optimize your bone health and prevent osteoporosis. Our classes are taught by medical professionals and educators at the University of Utah.

Location

Classes are held at the University Orthopaedic Center. Please park on the upper level parking lot and enter via the Physical Therapy entrance. The classes are located in the Physical Therapy Gym located on the upper level entrance.

Classes

Class 1:
Bone Health

Posture and body mechanics
What is normal bone
What is bone density
What is osteoporosis
What is osteopenia
Behavior changes needed for bone health
Nutrition for bone health

Class 2:
Walking

Learn how to use a pedometer
Learn a walking program designed for you
Balance
Learn balance exercises to prevent falls

Class 3:
Medical

Aspects of Bone Health
Weight Lifting
Learn how to use weights to build bone in your arms, legs, and spine

Class 4:
Core Strength

Learn proper posture
Learn exercises to improve posture and trunk or "core" strength
Nutrition
Learn what foods to eat for good bone

Class Times

Tuesday: 5pm to 7pm / Saturday: 9am to 11am

$125.00 for all four classes (Price includes a pedometer)
