University Orthopaedic Resources:

With the new knowledge from detailed CT scans and 3D images, we are now able to re-orient the acetabulum (hip socket) and make a patient's hip more normal. Our hope is then to help patients improve their pain, and live with their own hip longer, before they need to have it replaced (which still may need to happen in the future).

We have published the results of our Periacetabular Osteotomies (PAO) and Surgical Dislocation and Debridements (SDD) in two separate articles in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. And also as a result of an American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Annual Meeting scientific exhibit, we have also published about the causes for and treatment of Hip Pain in the Young Adult, also in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Supplement. Links are available below.

The Annual Meeting of Orthopaedic Surgeons at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS 2005), were presented much of this information as a scientific exhibit also showing DVD's of some patients' surgical findings to teach other surgeon's about this newer form of treating young patients with hip pain.
