Bone and Joint Research Laboratories, Veterans Administration

The Bone and Joint Research Labs are located in Building 2 of the VA Medical Center and occupies approximately 3,000 square feet. The lab is co-directed by Drs. Aaron A. Hofmann and Roy D. Bloebaum. The lab was established seventeen years ago and has been independently funded through VA Merit Review, foundations, and private and corporate entities.

Our mission statement states: "To contribute knowledge to the advancement of orthopedic, clinical and basic sciences, which will lead to improved clinical treatments and VA patient care. This will be accomplished while providing research and education programs for patients, clinical care providers, fellows, researchers and students." The mission statement reflects our goals and values.

Currently there are three technicians, one administrative assistant, eight graduate student, four medical students, and six pre-medical working in the lab.

We continue to support and collaborate with the Orthopaedic Research Lab and any Department of Orthopaedics surgeons who wish to collaborate with the VA Bone and Joint Research Lab.
