University of Utah Health Care provides an opportunity for our physicians to have a forward-thinking approach to how they treat patients and their families.  Working together with Primary Children’s Hospital we are able to provide a unique approach to medicine which allows for us to work as a comprehensive team across a bigger picture of health care.  We are able to personalize our services and help provide the care needed to have the “Child First and Always.” We offer a range of services in a variety of locations.

Our Services

  • Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program: Helps pediatric patients make the transition to adult care.  Offers patients guidance on how to manage their heart conditions through adult milestones including employment, pregnancy, and physical activity.
  • Aortopathy Program:  Provides specialized evaluation and care for patients with abnormal aortas.
  • Cardiomyopathy Program:  Is a disease of the heart muscle. There are several forms of cardiomyopathy. In the Cardiomyopathy Clinic at Primary Children's Hospital and the Eccles Ambulatory Care Center, our team of cardiomyopathy and heart failure specialists see children with all forms of cardiomyopathy. We also care for children who are at risk for developing cardiomyopathy due to a family risk, other disorders, or a history of toxin exposures such as chemotherapeutic agents. We have a team of highly skilled nurse practitioners and a cardiovascular geneticist who works closely with the physicians to care for your children and explain the condition, symptoms, and risks of inheritance. We are able to provide state of the art testing with 3-dimensional echocardiogram, exercise testing, cardiac catheterization, and cardiac MRI when indicated. Most children will undergo an echocardiogram, ecg, and consultation with the genetics counselor at the initial visit. There are also ongoing research studies related to pediatric cardiomyopathy for which your child may be eligible.
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery: Correction of defects ranging from simple the most complex conditions, as well as Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) placement and heart transplantation
  • Cardiac Genetics Program: Specializes in the management of patients who have been diagnosed with, or who are at risk to develop, a heritable cardiovascular condition.
  • Electrophysiology Program:  Provides specialized evaluation and management of rhythm abnormalities, including medical management and device therapy.
  • Fetal Heart Program: Greatly improves the care of infants with congenital heart disease through early fetal detection, prenatal planning, and expedient management after birth.
  • Heart Transplant & Heart Failure Program: Established as the pediatric arm of the U.T.A.H. Cardiac Transplant Program, the Heart Center provides care for children with end-stage heart disease a second chance at life.
  • High Risk Program: Provides closer, more consistent care and follow-up for single ventricle patients during the period between Stage I and Stage II surgeries.
  • Interventional Cardiology Catheterization (Cath Lab) and Electrophysiology: Utilizes expertise and advanced technology to perform hundreds of interventional and electrophysiology heart rhythm procedures each year, making it one of the busiest labs in the country.
  • Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program: Accurately and safely identifies the cause and severity of pulmonary vascular disease and then provides every available option for treatment to improve patients’ quality and length of life.
