Insulin Detemir (Levemir) – Stolen Vials Resurface, Product Potentially Defective

The FDA issued a Public Health Advisory regarding insulin detemir (Levemir). Previously reported stolen vials of insulin detemir are being sold in the US. At least one vial from a stolen lot was recently found at a Houston medical center. A total of 129,000 vials from three different lots were stolen. The three lot numbers of the stolen product are XZF0036, XZF0037, and XZF0038. Vials from these lots have been stored and handled improperly which may compromise the efficacy and safety of the products. The FDA is advising healthcare providers and patients to continue checking their supplies of insulin detemir for vials from these affected lots. Contact the Novo Nordisk Customer Care Center at 1-800-727-6500 if vials from these stolen lots are found. Additional details may be found through the following links:
