Vicks Sinex Nasal Spray - Recall of Specific Lots by Procter & Gamble

Procter & Gamble is recalling three lots of Vicks Sinex nasal spray in the US and internationally. Burkholderia cepacia was found in raw material used to manufacture the three lots of product. Burkholderia cepacia bacteria may cause serious infection in immunocompromised patients, but holds little risk for those with intact immune systems. There are no reports of illness due to this product. A single lot in the US made from the raw materials in question was found to contain Burkholderia cepacia. Lots in the UK and Germany are currently being tested. All recalled lot numbers are listed below:

  • United States: Vicks Sinex Vapospray 12-Hour Decongestant Ultra Fine Mist, 15 mL; Lot # 9239028831
  • United Kingdom: Vicks Sinex Micromist Aqueous Nasal Spray Solution, 15 mL; Lot # 9224028832
  • Germany: Wick Sinex Schnupfenspray Dosiersystem, 15 mL; Lot # 9224028832

Procter & Gamble is removing affected product from store shelves. Lot numbers can be found on the product box and bottle. Consumers are instructed to discard affected product and contact Procter & Gamble (1-877-876-7881) for reimbursement.
