I am originally from Illinois, but completed my PharmD at Butler University in Indianapolis. My professional interests include health-system management, infectious disease, and working with underserved patient populations. I enjoy music, reading, listening to political banter, traveling, and cheering for Da Chicago Bears. I can't say I enjoy running, but I continue to do it anyway. I am looking forward to enjoying the beautiful nature of Utah and learning how to snowboard. |

Michael Filtz, PharmD, Pharmacy Practice Resident
I am very excited to be at the U for my PGY1. I recently graduated from the U of Maryland in Baltimore but grew up outside of Philly. I also have ties to Charlottesville, VA where I went to undergrad at UVA and worked in a lab for several years perfecting my pipetting thumb. I hope to continue exploring and refining my professional interests which include oncology, teaching, public health, and research among others. When I am not at work I enjoy exploring the beauty of Utah's Wasatch canyons by strapping wheels, boots, or sticks to my feet. My wife and I also enjoy traveling everywhere and anywhere, but while we are here we take advantage of good food, good music, good books, and most importantly good friends. |

Laura Miars, PharmD, Oncology Specialty Resident
I am from a small town outside of Cincinnati, OH. I graduated from pharmacy school at Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, and returned to Cincinnati to complete my general practice residency. I have not decided where exactly in oncology I want to practice, but am interested in working in the inpatient setting with hematologic malignancies or solid tumors. Outside of work, I love to try new restaurants and enjoy walking, especially in the beautiful parks around Salt Lake City! I also enjoy traveling and can't wait to travel to more of the western states of the U.S. |

David Stenehjem, PharmD, Pharmacy Practice Resident
David earned his PharmD at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Before pharmacy school he preformed research at a pharmaceutical company until he decided he’d rather work with people than rats. Currently his professional interests include cardiology, oncology, and neurology while still dabbling in research. Outside of the world of pharmacy he likes bikes — pedal not motor; climbing — mountains not corporate ladders; and most of all the sweet sound of his daughter’s coos and giggles. |
