Application Procedure

Applications from resident candidates are accepted until January 4th or until suitable applicants have been identified. University Hospital participates in the Resident Matching Program of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) each year. Applicants must submit the following information:

Selected applicants are requested to visit Salt Lake City for onsite interviews during January and February. Preliminary applicant interviews may also take place at the Residency Program Showcase at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in December.

Salary & Benefits

Pharmacy practice residents are classified as regular, full-time employees of the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics.

  • Salary is approximately $40,000 for first year residents and $55,000 for second year/specialty residents
  • The benefits package includes: health, dental, and life insurance, and staff discounts.
  • Residents are allowed 10 days of vacation and 12 paid holidays.
  • Registration is paid for the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and to the Western States Resident's Conference held in Monterey, California.

Qualifications

Applicants must be graduates from an accredited college of pharmacy and have completed a Pharm.D., MS in pharmacy, or equivalent experience. For specialized residents, completion of a pharmacy practice residency, or equivalent experience, is highly desired. Residents must be eligible for Utah licensure and are expected to obtain licensure as a pharmacist in Utah within the first 60 days of the program. www.dopl.utah.gov
