Cleft Palate
A cleft palate is different from a cleft lip because it happens when the roof of the mouth doesn’t fuse together with the sides of the lip. The difficulties this presents for you as a parent and caregiver can be overwhelming, but the team of specialists at University Healthcare can ease these difficulties. Through a team-based approach, the specialists work together to make sure each part of your child’s experience from the initial diagnosis through the surgery and recovery time is handled in the most caring way possible.
Your specialists can also counsel you about difficulties, such as feeding and hearing loss. They can recommend specially shaped bottles and techniques to assure that your child gets enough nutrition to stay healthy.
