The outpatient Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic at the University of Utah Healthcare Center utilizes PM&R physicians and healthcare staff with specialized training in neurological, orthopedic, musculoskeletal, and rheumatologic conditions.
Physical Medicine is a specialty with expertise in a wide variety of conditions ranging from neck, low back pain and sports injuries to serious neurological disorders such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and neuromuscular conditions. A team approach utilizing the expertise of physicians, nurses, therapists, psychologists, and social workers who specialize in rehabilitation is employed to facilitate the recovery of each individual to their optimal functional potential.
Outpatient care programs at the University of Utah Healthcare Center include:
- Acute and chronic pain management, amputee care, musculoskeletal conditions acute and chronic, neuromuscular conditions such as multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, stroke and traumatic brain injuries.
- Spasticity management is offered through the clinic as well with a team of healthcare providers with expertise in the management of anti-spasticity medications, injections and management of intrathecal baclofen pumps.
