For the tenth year in a row and eleven all together, University of Utah Hospital has received the Consumer Choice Award for overall quality care and image. The award is given to hospitals throughout the U.S. whose patients, responding to a National Research Corporation study, have recognized them for providing the highest quality care.
“We are extremely proud to receive this honor, especially as the sole winner in our competitive Utah market,” said David Entwistle, University of Utah Hospitals & Clinics CEO. “This means that our most important focus – our patients – clearly appreciate our attention to them and prefer University Health Care.”
In addition to the Consumer Choice Award, University Hospital was also recognized by its surrounding community for Best Overall Quality, Best Image and Reputation, and Best Doctors and Nurses. The official announcement was published in Modern Healthcare Magazine on Sept. 29.
University Hospital is one of 236 hospitals to receive the award this year out of 3,200 hospitals nationwide that were considered during the selection process. The winning facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Ares (MSAs), as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The National Research Corporation (NRC) study surveyed over 200,000 households representing over 400,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and the District of Columbia. This is the thirteenth year NRC has recognized hospitals for their efforts.
