Official Statement Regarding Patients Injured in Southern Utah Vehicle Accident on Aug. 9, 2010

SALT LAKE CITY—On Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, University of Utah Hospital received two patients injured in a van accident carrying Japanese tourists in Southern Utah. Although the patients and their family understand the intense interest in this story, especially in Japan, they have instructed University of Utah Hospital to release no information regarding their medical conditions or any other aspect of this situation.

They would greatly appreciate the media respecting their privacy in this matter.

In accordance with the patients’ wishes, University of Utah Hospital will not be able to offer any medical condition updates or answer any other questions regarding these patients.
