The Redstone Health Center Mammography department provides screening mammograms using state-of-the-art digital mammography equipment, including flex paddles which are more comfortable for the patient during their exam. The mammography images are transmitted electronically to radiologists at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital, who specialize in breast care.
The Huntsman Cancer Institute Breast Care Center is the first health care organization in the Intermountain West to offer digital mammography, which allows doctors to better view abnormalities through image manipulation and computer enhancement. Digital mammography is proven to be especially useful in younger women and those with dense breast tissue. This technology is used for routine annual screenings as well as for diagnostic purposes and procedures.
