Sancy Leachman, M.D., Ph.D.
Sancy Leachman received her BA in 1985 from the University of Texas at Austin. She received her medical degree and PhD in 1993 from the University of Texas Southwestern then went on to do an internship in Internal Medicine. Dr. Leachman did her residency in Dermatology and her followship in Cutaneous Oncology at Yale University. She is board-certified in Dermatology. Dr. Leachman is interested in the treatment and scientific investigation of skin cancer, with a special emphasis on inherited cancer syndromes and familial melanoma, pigmentary disorders and rare genetic disorders of the skin. Dr. Leachman spends most of her free time with her family, including her husband, Craig, and two children, Alli and Guy. They enjoy traveling, skiing, scuba diving, hiking, camping, reading and swimming.
Dr. Leachman's health tip: "Do a self-skin examination every month and let your dermatologist know if you see anything suspicious, i.e. any new or changing skin lesion that not healing, bleeds or appears to have one portion growing differently than the rest of the spot".
Dr. Leachman is an Associate Professor of Dermatology for the University of Utah Health Sciences Center Department of Dermatology and is actively involved in cancer research with the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
