Physical Therapy
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy services are offered to those diagnosed with cancer to help them maximize strength and function during and after cancer treatment. Often cancer treatments cause one or more of the following side effects:
- Fatigue
- Decreased Muscle Strength
- Decreased Bone Density
- Lymphedema
- Gait Instability
Physical therapists address these issues through education and specialized exercise training. Benefits of physical therapy are that it helps patients and care givers regain control and a sense of hope. People feel as though they can better manage their health by learning proper and safe exercise to rebuild function, endurance, and muscle and bone strength. Maintaining strength during cancer treatments helps prevent or decrease the risk of complications as well as to enhance quality of life.
