2011 Kidstar Summer Camp for Children with Autism
June 13 - July 7: Ages 8 - 12
July 18 - August 11: Ages 13 - 17
Kidstar Summer Day Camp is an activities based summer program designed to help those with high functioning autism, ages 8-17, learn social skills and build self esteem. Kidstar's unique approach allows those with autism to learn directly from their peers. Throughout the camp, each camper with autism will be paired with a "buddy" camper that will model proper behavior and provide an example of appropriate social interaction. This will enable each camper to make numerous friends and reach out to others with the safety of a "buddy."
The Kidstar Day Camp is held at the Neuropsychiatric Institute Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 4 pm. Contact Kidstar Director, Karina Rasmussen at karina.rasmussen@hsc.utah.edu for further information or to register for the camp.
