Diabetes & Metabolism Center (DMC)

The University of Utah Diabetes and Metabolism Center (DMC) aims to unify clinicians, researchers, and educators to prevent, treat, and eradicate diabetes in our nation.

With over 65 active researchers from six colleges across the University of Utah, the DMC is poised to translate scientific discoveries into improved prevention strategies and clinical care. Our investigators have  expertise in the following research areas:

  • Metabolism, cell, and molecular biology
  • Diabetes prevention and education
  • Behavioral research
  • Diabetes treatments and devices
  • Diabetic complications and vascular biology
  • Genetics of diabetes
  • Clinical and outcomes research

The goal of the DMC is to create a platform for innovative basic, translational, and clinical diabetes and metabolism research. Our activities include:

  • Weekly seminars in metabolism lecture series
  • Annual research symposia
  • Pilot and feasibility awards
  • Education and training of future researchers and clinicians
  • Faculty recruitment and mentoring
