Application Process

Before applying, we ask that you familiarize yourself with the volunteer requirements and expectations. If you would like to become a volunteer, please complete the following steps:

  1. Identify the volunteer position(s) in which you might be interested. The minimum requirement is a six month commitment for one 4 hour shift per week.
  2. Obtain a recommendation letter from someone other than a family member or close friend. You are also required to provide three references. These references can be from a former employer, teacher, clergy person or volunteer coordinator. Please include contact information so we may contact them.
  3. In addition to your letter of recommendation, download, print, and fill out the following forms: (download checklist to keep track)
    1. Volunteer application or Junior Volunteer Application if under 18 years old
    2. If you are a junior volunteer (less than 18 yrs old), have a parent/guardian fill out the parental permission form
    3. Release form for criminal background check
    4. Interview questions
    5. Orientation agreement
    6. After reading the World Class U (WCU) behavior standards, please sign the WCU agreement
    7. Security Agreement (initial each page)
    8. After reading the HIPPA training booklet, please take the HIPAA quiz
  4. Take the completed paperwork to Ron Allison in the Volunteer Office (Room AC218, A level south of cafeteria).
  5. We will contact you when we receive the results of your criminal background check, and arrange for an orientation appointment with the Volunteer Coordinator. Before attending the orientation, you will need to:
    1. Obtain required immunizations/vaccinations which are provided to you at no charge at the Employee Immunization Clinic. You will need a TB skin test, and depending on where you will volunteer, you may also need the Hepatitis B series.
    2. The Employee Immunization Clinic is located in room #AA217, on the A level across from the "A" elevators. Please take your current vaccination records with you. The clinic hours vary weekly. Please call 581-2227 to verify the weekly hours of operation.
  6. Attend orientation
    1. Bring your vaccination results, drivers license and license plate number (for parking pass).
    2. Have your picture taken for your volunteer ID badge.
    3. Obtain your volunteer T-shirt or jacket.
    4. Arrange hands on training for your volunteer assignment with the volunteer coordinator and department coordinator.
