Information Desk

Purpose

To provide support for the Customer Service Department.

Reports To

Customer Service Supervisor

Days/Hours

  • 9:00-1:00PM; 1:00-5:00PM; 5:00-8:00PM
  • Monday - Friday

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 or older.

Volunteer Duties/Responsibilities

  • Greets and assists visitors to the hospital in an efficient, friendly, and courteous manner.
  • Must be competent in using the computer and telephone systems.
  • Use Allegra and AMCOM programs to locate patients and employees.
  • Using paper script, answers telephone calls in a courteous manner and gives patient information only as instructed.
  • Route phone calls to appropriate departments.
  • Direct patients to clinics and other hospital areas.
  • Check lobby for neatness, maintain magazine racks as necessary.
  • Notify Service Officer by two-way radio when assistance is needed for patient transport or when wheelchair supply is low.
  • Notify clergy who requested visits.
  • Sign in visitors after 10:00pm, issue visitor stickers.
  • Have good knowledge of hospital layout, lower campus, and Research Park areas.
  • Keep all personal phone calls and conversations with co-workers to a minimum.
