Questions About Your Bill?

The U of U Health billing office provides several services:

Please email your billing questions to patientbilling@hsc.utah.edu

Your bill will arrive at different times depending on your insurance:

    • You’ll receive your bill after your insurance processes your claim if you have insurance.
    • You’ll receive your bill about 30 days after your visit if you don’t have insurance.

You’ll receive three statements to settle your balance. Your account will be transferred to collections if you don’t pay in full or make a payment arrangement with our billing office.

You can sign up for electronic statements through MyChart. Contact us if you need assistance at 801-587-6303 or 1-800-862-4937.

You'll know we have billed your insurance company when you receive your bill. You will see an insurance payment on your billing statement.

You may pay a deposit or copayment at your visit. A copayment is a set fee you pay for health care services. The amount you pay depends on your insurance coverage.

You will pay your copayment and deductible, if applicable, at your visit. A deductible is the amount you pay before your health plan pays.

Please bring your current insurance card or information to your appointment. This will help us bill your insurance.

Financial Assistance: What If I Can't Pay My Bill?

We offer payment plans for patients who have trouble paying the full balance of their bills. In these cases, you’ll pay whichever is the greater amount of two options:

    • A monthly payment of $75
    • Your total balance divided over 12 months

Please contact our customer service department at 801-587-6303 if you cannot pay the minimum payment. We will review other options with you.

You may be eligible for financial assistance if you’re experiencing hardship. You must submit an application along with a few other documents:

    • Copies of paycheck stubs or other income from the past two months
    • Current bank statement copy
    • Copy of last year’s tax return
    • Letter explaining your current financial status
