She completed Family Practice Residency at The University of Utah (1983-1986) and practiced as a family doctor in Park City, Utah from 1986 to 1993. She was also part of a group practice in a county without a medical hospital. Dr. Gibbs was the EMS director for the ambulance/EMTs in Park City and active in getting paramedics designated by the state of Utah for Park City. She completed Psychiatry Residency at the University of Utah (1993-1996). Dr. Gibbs specializes in HIV psychiatry and collaborated with Kenyan psychiatrists in Eldoret, Kenya to establish a HIV/AIDS psychiatric clinic there in 2007. She is an attending psychiatrist at the University of Utah Hospital’s Inpatient Medical Psychiatry unit, works in the outpatient Mental Health Integration clinic, and supervises residents in the HIV clinic. Her contributions in fostering high quality psychiatric education in Utah and the region include roles as creator and lead mentor for U Health’s ECHO Behavioral Health project (2014-present) and as the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine’s MS III Clerkship director (2014-present).
