  • Arsalan N. Habib, MD is an Associate Professor of Medicine (Clinical) at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Habib received his Bachelor of Science from Georgetown University in 1994 and then his M.D. from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 2000. He received residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine, which he completed in 2003 and was selected as Chief Medical Resident for 2003-2004. He then went on to complete his nephrology fellowship from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 2007 after which he joined the faculty in the Division of Nephrology as an Assistant Professor with promotion to Associate Professor in 2023.



    Dr. Habib practices clinical nephrology with his main clinic location adjacent to St. Mark’s Hospital at the University of Utah Wasatch Kidney Specialists. He provides inpatient consultations at St. Mark’s Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, LDS Hospital as well as the Promise Long Term Acute Care Hospital. He also serves as teaching attending at the University Hospital. Dr. Habib is medical director of the Davita Sandy Dialysis Center where he also sees dialysis patients. As a nephrologist his clinical interests include the management of acute renal failure, chronic kidney disease and its prevention, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, peritoneal dialysis, in-center and home hemodialysis, as well as pre- and post-kidney transplant care and management. Dr. Habib has participated in several single and multi-center research trials with his colleagues in the Division of Nephrology and has published several articles in peer review journals. In addition to his clinical activities with University of Utah Health, Dr. Habib has been a volunteer physician at the Hope Clinic in Midvale, Utah since 2011 where he runs a very busy monthly kidney care clinic for uninsured patients.

    When he is not seeing patients in clinic or at the hospital Dr. Habib enjoys spending time with his family, the outdoors and training in martial arts. Dr. Habib is a second degree black belt in both Kung Fu and Tai Chi and has competed in both national and international tournaments. He is also a former member of the national team of the USA Wushu and Kung Fu Federation.

    Dr. Habib is truly an outstanding doctor and person. Anyone with kidney issues would be very fortunate to be under his care and guidance. He is unsurpassed in his knowledge and skill and just as importantly he has been very kind and patient as he has answered all of my questions and concerns.
