Dr. Porth received his Baccalaurate degree from the University of New Orleans, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1982, his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1986, completed a general surgery internship at Charity Hospital of Louisiana, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1987, a residency in anesthesiology at Charity Hospital of Louisiana, New Orleans, Louisiana in 1990, and a fellowship in anesthesiology at the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York in 1998. He was appointed as an Instructor in the Department of Anesthesiology, University of Utah School of Medicine, in May 1998, promoted to Assistant Professor in October 1999, and promoted to Associate Professor in July 2007.
