Jill Erickson has worked with our Adult Reconstruction Surgeons since 1999, and with Christopher Peters, M.D. exclusively since 2003, with Joint Replacements as well as Hip Preservation procedures. She is an integral member of our University of Utah Center for Hip & Knee Reconstruction team and coordinates our research, surgical and clinical outcomes databases. She is a Nationally Certified Physician Assistant who joined the Department of Orthopaedics in 1999 after training at Gannon University in Erie Pennsylvania.

In her own clinic, she sees adults with Orthopaedic problems involving the hip and knee. She does the initial history and physical exam, evaluates x-rays and radiographic studies, then formulates a treatment plan. She discusses conservative treatments like injections and details of surgical options and recovery. If further care is necessary, she refers patients to the appropriate physician/surgeon.

Jill plays an integral role in the University of Utah Joint Academy. She has helped to develop the tools needed for best outcomes and fastest recovery. Access to this information and videos are available here: https://healthcare.utah.edu/orthopaedics/specialties/joint-replacement/joint-academy.php

My hip X-rays were great, but I had a concern over pain in my hamstrings and tight hip flexors. She was great to give me some ideas of exercises to do, and sent in Matt from PT that showed me some, gave me a printout and sent me videos to show the proper way to do them. A referral for PT was also given in case I need further care. I really appreciate the team approach to helping me get answers from one visit.

the PA was hurried, seemed uninterested in me as a patient, and was very businesslike, not listening to my concerns. I believe this provider needs either some extended training in compassion or a break, to treat burnout. Overall, this provider is not very warm or compassionate, is not patient-centered, and is a bit hostile. Disappointed.
