  • Adhish Agarwal, MD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University of Utah. After completing his medical school training at the University of Delhi (MAMC), he completed Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine at Nassau University Medical Center in New York, and subsequently a Clinical Fellowship in Nephrology at the University of Utah in 2003. After his fellowship, he enjoyed practicing Nephrology in a busy private practice in Ogden, during which he also served as Medical Director for two University of Utah Dialysis units, as Chief Department of Medicine at McKayDee Hospital, and as Medical Director for Intermountain Healthcare Acute Dialysis services for the Northern region. While in Ogden, he also served as a Board Member of the Dialysis Research Foundation, and joined the University of Utah as faculty in June 2017. Since June 2020, he has served as the Associate Chief of Medicine Service at the SLC VA Medical Center.

    Dr. Agarwal’s clinical interests include taking care of patients with various kidney problems including glomerulonephritis, ADPKD, acute kidney injury, and dialysis, and enjoys interactions with his patients. His primary research interests include cardio-renal syndrome, renal physiology in heart failure, and hypertension.

    He has been my doctor for a long time. Always been concerned for my needs. With his help and guidance my son was able to avoid going on dialysis and has received a kidney transplant and doing extremally well. I regret that because of his location and my ability to continue to travel to the University Hospital, I need to change doctors, which has been very hard for me to do. However, he said that I can call him if I ever need to. It was not an easy decision to make.
