Bio

Dr. Raphael received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Gonzaga University then returned to Honolulu where he obtained his medical degree from the University of Hawaii. He completed Internal Medicine and Nephrology training at the University of Utah and has been on the Faculty since 2009. Dr. Raphael is a specialist in disorders of the kidney, electrolytes, and high blood pressure. He oversees Nephrology Fellows in training in the outpatient and inpatient settings.

Academic Bio

Dr. Raphael received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Gonzaga University then returned to Honolulu where he obtained his medical degree from the University of Hawaii. He completed Internal Medicine and Nephrology training at the University of Utah and has been on the Faculty since 2009. Dr. Raphael's research interest is in the area of acid-base regulation and the progression of chronic kidney disease. Dr. Raphael conducts interventional clinical research studies testing the renoprotective effects of alkali in people with chronic kidney disease.
