Jedediah D. Kowalski,
FNP, APRN

Languages Spoken: English
I received both my Bachelors in Nursing as well as my Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Utah. While there, I received the Deans Award for Outstanding Baccalaureate Student and received multiple scholarships during my Bachelor and Doctoral studies. In my nursing career, I have obtained several certifications in managing complex ICU patients, attended courses for handling acutely ill behavioral health patients, and have all of my basic nursing certifications.
Some of my special medical interests and concentrations include assisting my patients in improving cardiovascular health through exercise, diet, and medications when necessary. With my background in Psychiatry, I also encourage my patients to maintain their mental health through developing strong coping skills, utilizing medical resources and personal support systems, and trialing medications if indicated.
I became a Nurse Practitioner because of my fascination with biology, the human body, and how it all functions together. My medical philosophy is to work cooperatively with my patients to develop a comprehensive plan to improve their health and well-being. I believe in intervening early to help prevent disease before it begins. However, I also believe in using the least invasive means possible and strongly believe in my patients’ rights to autonomy and self-determination when managing their own health.
In my free time I enjoy running, snowboarding, boating, travelling, playing guitar, learning languages, and spending time with friends and family.

I felt rushed. Not enough empathy or a of what my deepest concerns or. Felt like he had read the chart and already knew what he was going to do and wanted to be on to the next patient. Printed the report for the visit before I had discussed all that I wanted to. I.

I felt very comfortable with Jed Kowalski; my husband did as well. He was very confident in his knowledge, and caring, of my condition. He took the time to look through my records when I explained that I had had an ultrasound previously (2017), and opined that I have another one (and I agreed) performed. I came away trusting Jed Kowalski.

This was an appointment to establish a general practitioner to coordinate all my medical services provided by specialists. Jed did address the two issues I asked about but did not discuss any of the ongoing services I am having from specialists not conduct any type of exam other than order some blood tests. I was disappointed in this appointment.

Doctor pretty much said go see someone else for your problems which I kind of knew already, but why do I have to set up another time and place. Seriously, the charges for medical bills and what you get are not equitable

This was my first experience with this provider as an establish care appointment. My husband and I chose him because of his biography-his focus is on prevention and mental health which I greatly appreciate as a health care professional myself. He is personable and knowledgeable but seemed VERY rushed. He spoke very quickly and was half way out the door when I was still discussing concerns. Perhaps I had a different understanding of what was involved in an establish care appointment (my PCP just retired after 25 years so starting over with a new provider is a new experience) but again, as a health care professional myself, I can speak to both sides and having a provider that seems extremely rushed, does not make a patient feel cared for, understood, or supported. If I could share some feedback, it would be to have a greater focus on the patient and slow down to ensure quality patient interactions and improved understanding which will lead to incredible patient care.I plan to stay with this provider for the next year to assess if we are going to be a good fit for each other. Right now I see a lot of potential, but there are definitely areas where improvement should be made during patient interactions.

I felt like the doctor didn't quite care about the mental health portion and was a little dismissive. I've been asked more than once when I go to this office to fill out a mental health questionnaire but not once has the doctor actually seen it, and it is very annoying. I'd like that they either don't ask me to fill that out or they actually look at it.

I've been looking for a new primary care physician and Dr. Jed Kowalski came highly recommended. I now understand why. He was a good communicator (he even responded quickly to e-mails that I sent him after our appointment), curious, and collaborative. Ultimately, he made me feel cared for. He checked all the boxes of what I consider a good doctor to be!
