Dr. Afify received her medical degree from University of Alexandria, Egypt, Faculty of Medicine. She completed her Pediatric residency and Pediatric Hematology Oncology fellowship in Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana University.

She was on the faculty in the department of Pediatrics in Alexandria University for 10 years. She also took clinical appointments in Australia and in United Kingdom.

Since 2002 Dr. Afify has been faculty member of the department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Hematology Oncology at the University of Utah and is in is currently an Associate Professor. Dr. Afify is board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology Oncology.

Research Statement

My Academic and research interests are focused on pediatric non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and post solid organ transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD). I am a member and coinvestigator in Children’s Oncology Group (COG) NHL committee, a past coinvestigator on 2 past clinical trials and 2 currently in development. I am currently leading a multi institutional study of monomorphic PTLD. Three subtypes o PTLD are understudy, Burkitt lymphoma occuring in the setting of PTLD, EBV negative monomorphic PTLD/diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and central nervous system positive PTLD.
