Theresa Long, MD, building on her academic and clinical relationship with the Moran Eye Center, is serving as the institution’s first ophthalmic hospitalist.

Long, who recently completed her residency and an anterior segment and cataract/academic fellowship at Moran, delivers clinical care, performs surgeries, and conducts inpatient and emergency consults at the University of Utah Hospital.

Long’s clinical appointment includes seeing patients at Moran’s Stansbury, Redwood, and University of Utah locations.

As an ophthalmic hospitalist, Long is devoting half of her practice to evaluating medically complex or critically ill hospitalized patients with emergent and urgent ophthalmic conditions and collaborating with other hospital services to provide multidisciplinary care.

She continues resident and fellow teaching and training as a seasoned lecturer and active participant in Moran’s resident admissions committee and academic administration.

Throughout her residency and fellowship, Long worked as a volunteer ophthalmologist with Moran’s Global Outreach team at local community clinics, on the Navajo Nation, and in Tanzania.
