Amanda Moloney-Johns, MPAS, PA-C

  • Amanda Moloney-Johns is an Assistant Professor and Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in the University of Utah Division of Physician Assistant Studies. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. She then attended the University of Utah Physician Assistant Program (UPAP) and graduated in 2006. Amanda started at UPAP in 2009 as the Director of Clinical Development, and transitioned into her current position, Director of Clinical Education, in 2013. She became an Associate Director in 2018.

    As the Director of Clinical Education, Amanda oversees all aspects of the clinical phase of the program, and also serves as a faculty advisor. She is passionate about interprofessional education (IPE), and has served on the IPE leadership team since 2012, and the IPE Advisory Committee since its inception. Additionally, she serves on several committees at the University level including the Advanced Practice Clinician Council and the School of Medicine Admissions Committee. She is also a fellow in the Academy of Health Science Educators.

    On a national level, Amanda served on the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Committee for Clinical Education for 5 years and currently serves on the Leadership Mission Advancement Commission for PAEA. She served on the Utah Academy of Physician Assistants (UAPA) Board of Directors for seven years in the positions of Vice President and Member-at-Large. Amanda has authored peer-reviewed articles which have been published in the Journal of Physician Assistant Education and Family Medicine, and has also authored a book chapter in Today’s Health Professions: Working Together to Provide Quality Care. She has given presentations at conferences for UAPA, PAEA, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society for Teachers in Family Medicine. She has also presented internationally at conferences in Russia, Kazakhstan and Nepal, and participated in the Nepal International Student Elective in 2016.

    Amanda has practiced clinically in chronic pain management and also at the Solitude Ski Clinic. She has also worked clinically with the Utah Children’s Project at the University of Utah. She grew up near Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is an avid Green Bay Packers fan. In her spare time, she loves to travel and also enjoys skiing, mountain biking and hiking with her husband, young daughters and two dogs.
