Dr. Ratmeyer was originally born and raised in Gallup, New Mexico. He has loved the southwest from an early age including the people and culture and the natural beauty. He grew up in a small town where the majority of health care was under resourced care to an underserved population. He witnessed the importance of medicine and trustworthy caretakers in these communities and saw the fulfillment this brought to many in his community and was drawn to medicine for this reason. He attended the University of New Mexico for undergrad and medical school, and in doing so became more and more interested in a career to help those in rural areas similar to the place he grew up and calls home.
