Dr. Wirth is a general pediatric cardiologist at the University of Utah and Primary Children’s Hospital. Dr. Wirth received his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his general pediatrics residency and pediatric cardiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he also completed a year of post-doctoral research and obtained a master’s degree in clinical and translational research.

Dr. Wirth provides general pediatric cardiology care and attends service in the inpatient Cardiac Care Unit. He has a heavy interest in global health, and his primary research interests include rheumatic heart disease (RHD) and expanding access to high quality screening, diagnosis, and long-term management for RHD in low-income settings globally. He works closely with a group of international investigators primarily centered in Uganda, where he runs and assists with a number of funded projects.
