Dr. Tanino grew up just outside of Seattle, WA in the airplane building city of Renton. His decision to go into medicine was the culmination of a variety of experiences which made him realize his dual interests in science and working with people. It was during his gap year with AmeriCorps working in communities across the American Southwest which shaped his interests in rural medicine.

Dr. Tanino's medical areas of interest include hospital medicine, palliative care, rural medicine, and medical education.
