Dr. Kawai is from Arcadia, California. He completed his undergraduate degree at University of California San Diego and his medical degree at Texas Tech HSC El Paso Paul L Foster SOM. His medical interests include hospice and palliative care, academic medicine, mental health and full-spectrum care. Outside of work, he enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, backpacking and experiencing new cities and activities. He chose the University of Utah because of the welcoming and supportive faculty, and the ample opportunities to pursue his interests in hospice and palliative care and academic medicine.
