If you’re a first-time parent, how do you know what’s normal and what’s not? The first piece of advice Bernice Tenort, nurse manager for labor and delivery at University of Utah Health, gives to new moms: Trust your instincts.

“New moms need to have some confidence,” Tenort says. “They need to know that if you feel like something’s wrong, there’s a possibility that it could be.”
