Concussions are the most common type of brain injury. They can happen to anyone, and many go untreated. Here, A. Michael Henrie, DO, a sports medicine physician at the University of Utah Health, shares some insight on concussions, including symptoms and recovery tips.

Protect Your Kids

“Concussions are common in children participating in sports,” Henrie says. Here are three tips to help keep your kids safe when playing sports:

  1. Use appropriate protective equipment, such as helmets.
  2. Adhere to sport rules, and praise good sportsmanship.
  3. Recognize and respond quickly to possible concussions.

In this video, Henrie explains some dos and don’ts for people who have recently suffered a concussion.
