These three gift ideas will bring a smile to your mom’s face—and best of all, they are good for her physical and mental well-being.

Instead of giving your mom cut flowers that won’t be around for long, consider an assortment of herbs she can plant in the garden. “Gardening burns 200–400 calories per hour and may reduce stress,” Terry says. Another bonus: Replacing salt with fresh herbs in your food can lower blood pressure.

Spa retreat

A relaxing day at the spa can do wonders for Mom. Regular massage can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve concentration and even strengthen the immune system.

Fitness class

For the mom who likes to stay active, consider the gift of a fitness class. From boot camp to barre to yoga, there’s something for every mom. Exercise improves strength and mobility, and helps reduce stress.
