Your junior jazz player wants to own the court.
Here are some conditioning drills for youth basketball players to help them stay healthy and active.
Practice your skills during the pre-game
Get game-ready with drills.
- Shooting
- Dribbling
- Passing
- Playing defense
Some tips before tip-off
It's almost game time. Get your heart rate up.
- Jog full court and back
- High knees
- Side shuffle
- Backpedal
- Power skip
- Jog to half court and back
- Forward/backward arm circles
Stretch
Get loose, move your:
- Arms
- Shoulders
- Upper and lower legs
Stretching should not hurt. Try to hold each stretch for 15 seconds.
Shoot some snacks
- Eat healthy snacks with carbohydrates, protein, fruits and vegetables.
Make hydration your teammate
Keep hydrated before, during and after the game.
- Drink 16 ounces of water 2 hours before the game
- Drink water thoughout the game, during halftimes and timeouts
When to come out of the game
Feeling a sharp pain, dizziness, or just feeling really tired?
- Take a seat on the bench for some rest
After the game, and before the orange slices
- Always remember to stretch- it will help you from feeling stiff the next day.
