The Toll of Stress
When you feel stressed out, it's not only your emotional health that suffers. Feeling stressed or anxious can weaken your immune system, making you more vulnerable to colds and other infections, according to the American Academy of Family Physicians. Stress can also make you feel like abandoning healthy routines like eating well or exercising. And some people in a stressful period in their life turn to alcohol, tobacco or other drugs in an attempt to ease their anxiety.
