Adolescent intensive outpatient program
Adolescent intensive outpatient program
Helping youth build emotional strength and life skills
Our treatment facility provides a nurturing and structured community where adolescents learn essential emotional and life skills. Through a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach, we help teens build emotional awareness, regulate their emotions, and cultivate coping strategies to navigate everyday challenges in their family and community environments.
Huntsman Mental Health Institute provides a comprehensive continuum of care tailored for adolescents. This includes our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which is specifically designed for youth ages 12–17 who need more support than traditional outpatient services, or youth who are transitioning from day treatment or a recent inpatient stay.

How our IOP supports mental health and daily life
The Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a specialized mental health treatment that meets three times per week to support teenagers facing emotional and behavioral challenges. This structured program creates a safe, supportive environment where youth can develop essential coping strategies and life skills.
During summer months, IOP sessions are scheduled in the morning hours to provide consistent structure when youth typically have less organized daily routines. Throughout the school year, sessions are held after school hours, enabling teens to continue their education while receiving the intensive mental health support they need.
Parent or caregiver involvement is a key component of our approach. They participate in a weekly group that provides them with essential support and guidance. These group meetings help foster stronger family relationships, reinforce the coping skills their teens are learning, and promote healthier family dynamics overall.
Is this program right for your child and teen?
Before starting the Adolescent IOP, we take time to learn more about each person’s unique situation. We offer a one-hour assessment designed to help determine if this program is the right fit. Our team uses specific criteria during this process to guide thoughtful and personalized care decisions.
