Hello everyone. I hope you’re doing well and are staying well.

This week you’ll begin to see—whether online or in your mailbox—Huntsman Cancer Institute’s 2020 Report to the Community. This year’s report is titled The Huntsman Touch. Look carefully and you’ll see that one of the core features of HCI’s vision, the human touch, is embedded in that title. The human touch is part of the essence of HCI. It exemplifies how we deliver patient care, how we care for each other, how we care for our community, and how our science is focused on making a difference in people’s lives.

Even in this time of the coronavirus pandemic and the age of physical distancing, the human touch is alive and well at HCI. It might be behind a mask or from a distance farther than our care providers are used to, but our commitment hasn’t changed—and it won’t.

Our 2020 report showcases the many ways in which we continue to put our patient and community first, with stories that range from the healing power of art in our buildings, research that is delivering life-saving new treatments to patients, and ways in which our new mobile screening bus brings HCI expertise and care to people where they live across the entire state of Utah.

To expand access to the report for our community, we have made the full online version of our report available in both English and Spanish. The reports will be arriving by mail soon or you can view it at huntsmancancer.org/annualreport.

I hope you will enjoy reading our 2020 annual report as much as I have. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be inspired by the talent, passion, dedication, and loving spirit of our HCI teams. Our people are extraordinary. And together, we are making an extraordinary contribution toward our shared vision of a cancer-free frontier.
