The Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) Cancer Learning Center library has been closed for several weeks now. We miss seeing each of you and providing in-person help and information.

Until we can open our doors again, we want you to know we’re still here for you to provide accurate, personalized health information.

Our cancer information specialists remain hard at work and are available virtually to answer your questions about cancer and provide helpful information and resources.

Also, you can still check out library materials, which we will ship right to your home.

Please contact us with your questions or to let us know what library materials you’d like to borrow.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Cancer Learning Center

Who can use the Cancer Learning Center?

Our services are free and available to everyone. Whether you are a patient, caregiver, or health care professional, we can help you find the information you need to make decisions about your care and cope with the many changes cancer can bring.

Can you answer questions about COVID-19 (coronavirus)?

Yes! We’re keeping a constantly updated list of COVID-19 resources and can provide you with the latest information from reliable sources.

I have items checked out from your library. What should I do?

We’ve pushed back all due dates on borrowed materials. If you’re still reading, using, or enjoying your materials, you don’t need to do anything right now.

If you’re finished with the materials, you can return them by mail or at a drop box at HCI.

  • To return items by mail, please call, email, or text us. We’ll send you a mailer and a free shipping label. Place your items inside the mailer and put them in your mailbox.
  • If you have an upcoming appointment at HCI, you can return items in the drop box outside the Cancer Learning Center on the 6th floor of the cancer hospital.

I want to borrow items from the library. How do I do this?

We can mail up to two items to your home. We pay all shipping costs and provide the mailers you’ll need to return everything.

View items available for checkout in our library catalog.

Once you’ve picked the items you want, please call us at 1-888-424-2100 or email us and let us know what titles you’d like to borrow. We’ll send items to you by mail in about a week.

If you have never borrowed items from our library before, we’ll arrange a phone call with you so we can get your name and contact information for our files.

I want to borrow items but I can’t find what I’m looking for. Can you help?

Yes! Please call us at 1-888-424-2100 and we’ll help you find the titles, topics, or resources you need.

I’m feeling really stressed and anxious. Do you have anything to help?

This is a very stressful time, and there are many resources to help.

Our cancer information specialists can talk with you or send you information about the help available at HCI and from many other organizations.

In our library, we have CDs and pre-loaded MP3 players (called Playaways) that are designed to help with relaxation, meditation, and stress relief.

We also have DVDs with gentle exercises like tai chi and yoga.

All of these items are available for checkout and delivery to your home.
