A través de una colaboración con la Asociación de Salud Comunitarios de Utah (AUCH por sus siglas en inglés) y el programa de prevención y control de tabaco del Departamento de Salud de Utah, los investigadores de Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI por sus siglas en inglés) están colaborando con más de 30 centros de salud comunitarios en todo Utah en un nuevo estudio dirigido a mejorar el compromiso con el tratamiento para el cese del tabaco basado en la evidencia para reducir la muerte y la enfermedad causada por el tabaco.

A new research initiative at Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah builds upon Utah’s history of genetic discovery to inform strategies that help affected families reduce their cancer risk. Researchers Discover a Key Protein in Endometrial Cancer Growth

The hormone estrogen plays many critical roles in men and women, in both healthy tissues and in cancer. In breast and gynecologic cancers, estrogen sends signals to tumors instructing the cancer cells to grow out of control. . In endometrial cancer, which arises in the lining of the uterus, estrogen is known to play a critical role in tumor development, yet many insights from how it affects breast cancer do not apply to endometrial cancer. New research from HCI Researchers outlines findings scientists hope will advance our understanding of endometrial cancer and lead to more effective treatments.

New CAR-T Target Yields Promising Results for Multiple Myeloma

Too many patients with cancers like multiple myeloma relapse after treatment. This grim reality motivated researchers at HCI to try to improve the depth and durability of treatment response in multiple myeloma through a new cancer cell targeting mechanism. In research published in the journal Nature Communications, HCI scientists describe a novel way to treat cancers using chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy.
