Everyday Joy

Karen Jensen had a lifelong dream of her dad walking her down the aisle. She was 25, living in Phoenix, about to graduate with a master’s in social work, and about to marry her high school sweetheart. A few weeks before the wedding, her father, who had lymphoma, was emergently admitted to the hospital. Her father's social worker went above and beyond to make sure he could walk her down the aisle, creating priceless memories and completely changing Karen's career path.

Making the Work Commute Work for Her

Between road construction, traffic jams, and struggling to find parking, driving to work at the University of Utah can be a major source of stress. Cassidy Doucette turned this negative into a positive by choosing an active form of transportation. She says working as an oncology nurse can be hard emotionally and physically, and her morning bike ride prepares her for the long shifts at the hospital.

Celebrating Ten Years of Hispanic Patient Navigation

This month marks the 10-year anniversary of the Hispanic Patient Navigator program at Huntsman Cancer Institute. Patient navigators serve as a bridge between patients and their care teams. Navigators make sure patients, caregivers, and doctors understand each other and get needed services.
